Springhill Volunteer Fire Department

Established in 1890 by E.A. Potter, the Springhill Fire Department has been a beacon of hope and resilience for our community.

About Our Department

Through our history we have face many challenges, each one making us better as we learn and grow. Major challenges:                     1895 and 1896: Two major blazes on Main Street Dec. 26th, 1957: A devastating fire in the downtown core                                                       1965: Under Chief Crawford’s leadership, a landmark training school was established.     1971, a spirited group of volunteer ladies emerged as the pillars of support forming the auxiliary                                                                       July 20th, 1975: Yet another trial by fire downtown.                                                                2023, The first female officers elected in the Department’s history – LT Melissa Mills-Hutton and LT Cathy Spence.                                                    2025, moved into our new facility
