A big thank you to the town of Oxford, for allowing the Oxford Fire Dept. ( who invited us) to do a training exercise on this derelect building. It was a controlled burn and gave us a very rare oppotunity to train in an actual structure fire.

Training on how to deal with people with Dementia. This training taught us how to identify dementia and help the person so they are comfortable and safe. It taught us about what dementia is and a very, very breif insight on how it could affect a person. This type of training gives us a comfort level when dealing with them. A big thank you to the alzheimer’s society of Nova Scotia for putting this on.

Forcible Entry.                                      This is only a snap shot of the training we do. Pics of training could fill pages. Our members are trained in a wide variety of situations. Some are trained in senior and at risk youth education. Most are trained as MFR’s (medical first responders), others are trained in Fire Prevention, officers have specialized training in incident command. And the list goes on            All this and remember we are all VOLUNTEERS
